I am a self-taught artist and I began my journey with art ten years ago,
by what I believe was fate. My father was an artist and while visiting
him in Florida, I painted in his studio for the first time. I loved the
spiritual peace I felt and so an artist was born. I haven't stopped
painting since.
Artist Statement
My goal is to continually denounce and defy the negative images of women
especially black women in society today. I try to express with each
painting the beauty and strength of a woman. I hope that my art is a
part of a growing cultural legacy of thoughts and ideas from the
perspective of a strong black woman.
